PENINSULA playwrights
Sally McLean and Harry Paternoster will have their work showcased
at the Victorian Arts Centre this month.
The two writers have been
selected with 10 others for the inaugural presentation of Your
Text Here - a showcase for new theatrical works.
Peninsula actor John Jenkins
will also perform a monologue by playwright Aaron Smith titled
The World Is My Oyster.
Round Trip Productions
is producing the show, which will be held on July 23 and 24.
"It's shaping up
to be an exciting event with a lot of interest from the established
theatre industry in Melbourne," Ms McLean said.
A monologue from Mr Paternoster
work-in-progress Shazza's Shed, and three monologues from Ms
McLean's stage play Bayonets and Bully Beef, will be performed
as part of the showcase.
The two will also be directing
their segments for the Your Text Here showcase, which will be
presented to many leading theatre industry practitioners.
"It's daunting to
know that there will be members of Melbourne Theatre Company,
Playbox and La Mama in the audience," Ms McLean said. "But
it is a great opportunity to show what new works are out there
and what we're capable of"
