Super star coup for Sally

It's been a busy year for young filmmaker, Ms Sally McLean.

Not only has she recently formed her own production company called Salmac Productions, and released her first film A Little Rain Must Fall, but she has also scored herself a very prominent patron - the respected British actor, Nigel Hawthorne.

Sally is thrilled to have the star of Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister and The Madness of King George as her production company's honorary patron.

"Nigel agreed to be my patron after seeing a tape of my company's first film", she said.

"It is incredible that he has agreed to lend his support and guidance, as this is not something he usually does," she said.

Sally's road to success began in 1995 when she was made the inaugural beneficiary of the Peninsula Performing Artists' Fund.

"As a result of funding raised through Spotlight '95, a showcase of Peninsula talent at the Frankston Cultural Centre, I was able to go to the UK to train at The Actors' Institute in London."

Sally completed her post-graduate acting degree and has begun her Masters in Drama.

Since graduating, Sally made her London theatre debut in Annabel's Requiem at the Tower Theatre, playing the lead of "Jill", and numerous other roles have followed.

A Little Rain Must Fall was produced and filmed in London as is the result of collaboration with three fellow graduates. Sally co-wrote and co-produced the television drama, and also played the role of "Andy".

Sally has recently returned to Australia to work on two Australian film projects, and is in the process of completing the script for the feature film, Forever, due to be filmed in Melbourne and Scotland.

"I'm finding the Peninsula is a great place to write," said Sally, who has managed to complete a second script since her return.

Sally and another Victorian actor, NIDA graduate Justin Green, are conducting acting Masterclasses in November.
